      Safety Tip !
Smoke detectors save countless lives across Australia throughout the year.
In kitchen areas battery operated detectors sometimes have their batteries removed by owners due to constant tripping from exposure to cooking fumes. Instead of removing batteries, relocating the unit within the room may solve the problem.
Alternatively check which type of detector is installed. - An 'ionisation' type reacts quicker to fast flaming fires such as with paper and flammable liquids. A 'photoelectric' type reacts faster to smouldering fires with fabrics, furnishings etc which give off larger smoke particles. The latter is less prone to tripping from cooking fumes, cigarette smoke and the like.
Which ever type you have installed, check its performace regularly and dont remove the batteries.
